Demetrious Johnson Retains ONE 135-Pound Title in Trilogy Bout

Demetrious Johnson, also known as “Mighty Mouse,” has proven once again that he is one of the greatest MMA fighters in history. Johnson secured a unanimous decision victory over Adriano Moraes in a trilogy bout on Friday at ONE Fight Night 10 in Broomfield, Colorado. Moraes had knocked Johnson out in their first fight, but Johnson got his revenge with a knockout of his own in the second fight. The sold-out crowd at the event urged the 36-year-old Johnson to continue fighting after the match, but he has yet to make an official announcement.

Johnson’s MMA Legacy

Johnson is regarded as one of the most decorated fighters in MMA history, having held the UFC record for most consecutive title defenses (11 at flyweight) and being the only flyweight champion in the UFC from 2012 until 2018. He later became a two-time ONE Championship 135-pound titleholder, with this weekend’s win being his first successful ONE title defense. Johnson is also known for his strong clinch game, which he demonstrated in his bout with Moraes.

Future Plans

Johnson’s next challenger is Kairat Akhmetov, but the fighter has yet to decide whether he will continue to fight professionally. When asked about the matchup, Johnson jokingly replied, “Show me the money!” ONE’s recent event in the United States marked the Singapore-based organization’s first foray into the country.
