Jon Jones Considers Retirement After Defending UFC Heavyweight Title Against Stipe Miocic

Jon Jones, one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, may be retiring from the sport soon. In an interview with Fox Sports Australia, he stated his plan to defend the UFC heavyweight title against former champion Stipe Miocic in November at Madison Square Garden and then retire.

Defending Title Against Stipe Miocic

Jones mentioned that he feels like he doesn’t have much left to prove after beating Stipe Miocic. He wants to be around for his family, and he has been in the game for a long time, with some small injuries. He just wants to have a good head on his shoulders and play with his kids. Jones said that fighting Miocic will be enough for him, and he is happy with that.

Jon Jones’ Accomplishments

Jones is known for having the best resume of any fighter in MMA history. He returned after three years to win the UFC heavyweight title from Ciryl Gane via a dominant first-round submission at UFC 285 in March. Jones was previously the longtime UFC light heavyweight champion. He owns the longest unbeaten streak in UFC history (19) and is a record 15-0 in UFC title fights.

Possible Future Fights

Jones mentioned that he is not interested in fighting up-and-coming UFC heavyweight Sergei Pavlovich, who is an opponent with high risk and low reward due to being relatively unknown. However, he did express interest in fighting former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who is very popular in America and across the world. Jones said that a fight with Ngannou would be worth coming out of retirement for, as it would bring in serious revenue.

Jones said that he is focused on his upcoming fight against Miocic in November and that he will retire afterward. He wants to focus on being a dad and does not know what the future holds. Nevertheless, Jones’ fans will be eagerly waiting to see if he makes a comeback to the sport in the future.
