Leicester City and Leeds United Relegated from Premier League Despite Final Day Victories

Leicester City and Leeds United were both relegated from the Premier League on the final day of the season. Leicester City, who had famously won the Premier League in 2016, had to win their last game of the season against West Ham United to have any chance of staying in the Premier League. They managed to do just that, winning 2-1. However, it was not enough to save them from relegation.

Leicester City had a difficult season, which started with them failing to win any of their first six league games. The club’s lack of success in the summer transfer window, where they signed only one outfield player, also contributed to their downfall. Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers, was sacked on April 2, after a run of five losses in six matches. Dean Smith was appointed on an interim basis, but even his efforts were not enough to save the club from relegation.

Leeds United’s Relegation

Leeds United also suffered relegation on the final day of the Premier League season, after a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Leeds United had led a difficult season, sacking two managers, Jesse Marsch and Javi Gracia, before hiring Sam Allardyce with just four games remaining.

Despite Allardyce’s appointment, Leeds United were unable to turn their fortunes around. They finished five points from safety and were relegated to the Championship. Harry Kane’s superb display, where he netted twice, was the final nail in the coffin for Leeds United.

Meanwhile, Everton ensured their own survival with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bournemouth. A superb strike from Abdoulaye Doucoure was enough to maintain the club’s record of never having been relegated from the Premier League. Everton finished the season on 36 points, two ahead of Leicester City.

Southampton was the third side to lose their Premier League status, having finished bottom of the table.

Leicester City and Leeds United will both be playing in the Championship next season. Despite both teams winning their final games of the season, their fate was sealed due to the results of other teams. Leicester City, who had famously won the Premier League in 2016, had a difficult season that saw them struggle to stay afloat. Leeds United, on the other hand, had to deal with managerial changes and a lack of momentum. Everton managed to maintain their Premier League status with a crucial victory over Bournemouth.
