Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya’s Public Feud

Ryan Garcia, a popular and hard-hitting boxer, is currently embroiled in a public feud with his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya. The feud started when De La Hoya claimed that Manny Pacquiao was the preferred opponent for Garcia’s next fight. Garcia took offense to this and voiced his opinion on social media. However, matters escalated when De La Hoya expressed his tiredness of Garcia bringing up the fact that he did not show up to the post-fight press conference after Garcia was knocked out in a highly lucrative superfight in April.

The Twitter Exchange

On Twitter, De La Hoya tweeted at Garcia, stating that his loss was his own fault and that his advisor, Lupe, was the only one who pushed him to accept the “INSANE rehydration clause.” Garcia was not willing to let things slide and responded by accusing De La Hoya of disrespecting his entire career. He also pointed out that De La Hoya did not show support during the week of the fight, whereas Tank’s team did. De La Hoya retorted that he was only doing his job as a promoter and that Garcia’s job was to fight.

Garcia also pointed out a photo of De La Hoya with Rolly Romero, who he is about to fight. He accused De La Hoya of not caring about his fighters and putting on a fake act. However, De La Hoya responded by saying that his job is to promote, and that he was the one who sparked the fight week press conference.

Boxers May Patch Things Up

As with many feuds in the boxing business, it is possible that Garcia and De La Hoya may patch things up. However, the public nature of their feud has certainly caused a stir in the boxing community. It remains to be seen what the future holds for these two.
