Sergei Pavlovich Becomes UFC’s Heavyweight Knockout King

Sergei Pavlovich made history at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas by flattening Curtis Blaydes via TKO in the first round. The win extended Pavlovich’s streak of six consecutive first-round KO/TKO victories, breaking his own UFC record. He now shares the second spot with Don Frye for the most consecutive KO/TKO stoppages in the history of UFC, behind Chuck Liddell. Pavlovich has the shortest average time spent in the Octagon by a UFC heavyweight, lasting just 2 minutes and 23 seconds.

Title Shot Next?

Pavlovich’s victory puts him in a strong position for a title shot. ESPN had Pavlovich ranked as the third-best heavyweight fighter in the world, with Blaydes ranked fourth. Though Jon Jones is expected to defend his title against former champ Stipe Miocic, Pavlovich could be queued up for the winner or he could face another contender without waiting.

Dominant Performance

The big question before the fight was whether Pavlovich could stop Blaydes’ takedowns. Blaydes is a skilled wrestler with knockout power. However, Pavlovich quickly silenced his doubters. Blaydes didn’t even attempt a takedown until he got hurt by Pavlovich’s combination. Pavlovich initially hurt Blaydes with an overhand right that dropped him. He then followed up with a wobbling jab, an uppercut, and a big combination that put Blaydes down for good. Pavlovich is now looking forward to his next challenge in the UFC.

Pavlovich’s record-breaking win has made him a force to be reckoned with in the UFC. His knockout power and dominant performances have caught the attention of MMA fans worldwide. It remains to be seen who will be his next opponent, but one thing is certain: Sergei Pavlovich is a fighter to watch in the UFC’s heavyweight division.
