Colorado Avalanche’s Andrew Cogliano Suffers Neck Fracture During Game 6

An anonymous source has informed The Associated Press that Colorado Avalanche forward, Andrew Cogliano, suffered a neck fracture during Game 6 in Seattle on Friday. Although there has been no official announcement from the team, Cogliano is reportedly sidelined indefinitely.

Cogliano was hit from behind by Kraken forward Jordan Eberle, causing him to be taken to the locker room as Eberle served a penalty for boarding. However, he later returned to the game, which Colorado won 4-1, tying the first-round series at 3-3.

Eberle Not Given Hearing for Supplemental Discipline

Despite Cogliano’s injury, Eberle was not given a hearing for supplemental discipline. This comes after Colorado defenseman Cale Makar was suspended for Game 5 after his hit on Jared McCann.

Cogliano, who was instrumental in the franchise’s third Stanley Cup championship last season, is known for bringing grit, tenacity, and experience to the ice. However, Colorado is already without captain Gabriel Landeskog, who has been sidelined all season after knee surgery. Additionally, they are missing Valeri Nichushkin for personal reasons. Nichushkin has not played since Game 2 on April 20, when he scored in Colorado’s 3-2 victory.

With Cogliano’s injury, the Avalanche will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the void. Game 7 is set to take place on Sunday in Denver, and both teams will be fighting for a chance to move on to the next round of the playoffs.
