Dixon Just Misses Podium Finish at Long Beach Grand Prix

Scott Dixon almost got his revenge on Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward, who had punted him out of the Long Beach Grand Prix in April. Dixon finished just two-tenths of a second behind O’Ward, but he was unable to get within range to make a move to grab the final spot on the podium. Dixon had chased down O’Ward in the closing laps, and when asked if he was tempted to get physical with O’Ward, he replied that there’s a time and a place for it. Dixon’s comments came after his team was forced to build a new chassis for him following his bizarre collision with Will Power in second practice. Despite starting 23rd on the grid, Dixon produced an impressive drive, carving his way through the field on an alternate strategy after pitting early.

Dixon Praises Teammate and Pays Tribute to Team’s 250th Race Victory

Dixon paid tribute to his teammate Alex Palou, who scored the team’s 250th overall race victory on Sunday. Dixon congratulated the #10 car, saying he’s having a great championship and has a significant lead. Dixon also praised the team’s achievement, saying it’s a big number and a testament to a lot of people who put in a lot of effort, money, and sweat over the years. He added that it’s all about the team, referring to the great employees and partners who have contributed to every one of those wins.

Dixon Discusses Race Conditions and Strategy

Dixon talked about the challenging race conditions and how he had to use his driveability to look after the Firestones and fuel mileage. He said it got a little rough at the back a couple of times, but pit strategy went the way it should have. He also mentioned that it would have helped them a lot if they hadn’t waited to throw the yellow on Romain Grosjean’s crash because it would have benefited them a lot. Dixon noted that the off-line was rough, especially later in the race, where he had to make some dives, and it took three or four corners for his tires to clean up again, but it also proved beneficial for him as some went off in front of him. He added that the tires went surprisingly well, and a lot of people had a downer on how the reds were going to be, but they did a great job.
