Former NFL cornerback and Super Bowl champion Bashaud Breeland found himself in legal trouble after being arrested during a traffic stop in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident, which occurred earlier this week, resulted in Breeland facing a range of charges including possession of a stolen car, guns, and drugs.

According to a police report, Breeland, 31, was taken into custody and booked into the Mecklenburg County jail. However, he was released a few hours later after posting a $30,000 bond. The arrest took place after police pulled Breeland over while he was driving a Mercedes-Benz SUV. Shockingly, the vehicle was reported stolen in Florida.

Severe Charges

During the traffic stop, law enforcement officers discovered numerous illegal items. The reports state that multiple firearms, including two AK-47s and two AR-15s, were found in the vehicle. Additionally, police uncovered 5.45 pounds of marijuana and 62 grams of illegal mushrooms.

Jail Records and Charges

Records from the jail indicate that Breeland was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and altering serial numbers and a title. Furthermore, he is facing charges related to drug possession, with counts for both marijuana and a Schedule I controlled substance. Lastly, Breeland is also charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

Recent NFL Career

Breeland’s NFL career continued until 2021, during which he started 13 games for the Minnesota Vikings. However, in December of that year, the Vikings released him from the team. Subsequently, he signed with the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals in January 2022. Over the course of his career, Breeland earned an estimated $12.3 million, according to Spotrac.

Past Achievements

Notably, Breeland achieved success in his NFL journey. He played a pivotal role in the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory at the end of the 2019 season, starting in 15 out of 16 regular-season games. Additionally, he participated in and started six postseason games for the Chiefs in 2019 and 2020. Throughout his career with four different teams, Breeland managed to accumulate 16 interceptions, 86 passes defended, and 439 tackles.

Bashaud Breeland’s recent arrest on multiple charges has unfortunately overshadowed his accomplishments in professional football. The allegations of possessing a stolen vehicle, illegal firearms, and drugs paint a grim picture for the former NFL player. As the legal process unfolds, it will be crucial for Breeland to address these charges and navigate the potential consequences ahead.
