This announcement comes approximately three months after his diagnosis, which occurred during a routine physical with the New Orleans Saints while he was exploring free agency. Through a heartfelt post on Twitter, Moreau expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love and support he received during this challenging period. He acknowledged that his prayers had been answered and that he plans to continue living his life in accordance with his beliefs.
From Football Aspirations to Medical Discovery
Back in March, as Moreau contemplated the possibility of joining his hometown team, the New Orleans Saints, for another season of professional football, an unexpected turn of events unfolded. During a physical examination conducted by Dr. John Amoss, the team’s physician, an enlarged lymph node in Moreau’s left clavicle caught the doctor’s attention. This discovery ultimately led to a diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma, prompting Moreau to temporarily put his NFL career on hold in order to prioritize his health.
Further examinations revealed that Moreau had a rare but highly treatable variation of the disease called nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL). The subsequent treatment plan involved a combination of intravenous drip infusions lasting six to eight hours on the initial day, followed by several weeks of medication administered via ingestion or injection in the abdominal region. Remarkably, Moreau completed this treatment regimen just one day before signing a lucrative three-year contract worth $12 million with the New Orleans Saints in May. Consequently, he was able to fully participate in voluntary offseason practice later that month.

Undeterred by his recent health challenges, Moreau remained steadfast in his commitment to conquer cancer. He made it clear that he would persistently fight this disease and continue to achieve remission as many times as necessary. A former LSU football player from 2015 to 2019, Moreau was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Throughout his tenure with the Raiders, he recorded an impressive 91 receptions for a total of 1,107 yards and 12 touchdowns over the course of four seasons.
