Gervonta Davis Sentenced to House Arrest and Probation After Hit and Run Incident

Gervonta Davis, Baltimore-based fighter and world champion, has been sentenced to 90 days of house arrest and three years of probation by Judge Althea M Handy for a hit and run incident that occurred in November 2020. Davis was driving a Lamborghini Urus SUV when he ran a red light and collided with a Toyota Solara, injuring several of its passengers, including a pregnant woman. Davis and his two companions fled the scene in another car.

The Ruling

Although Davis pleaded guilty last year, the case was furthered by Melissa M Phinn after one of the victims asked Davis for help at the scene. The woman claimed that Davis did not come over to help her despite her pleas for assistance. The judge handed down the ruling for house arrest and probation last Friday.

History of Legal Troubles

Davis has had previous run-ins with the law, including charges of mistreatment towards women. His legal troubles outside of the ring have tarnished what could have been an inspirational story of a fighter rising from poverty to success through hard work, talent, and dedication.

Impact on Davis’s Career

Davis achieved a significant career milestone when he knocked out the popular and undefeated Ryan Garcia in a pay-per-view event a few weeks ago. However, the hit and run incident and subsequent sentencing could impact his career both inside and outside of the ring. It remains to be seen how this will affect his future fights and endorsements.
