Green Bay Packers’ Offense Undergoes Transition as Jordan Love Takes Over for Aaron Rodgers

As the Green Bay Packers move on from Aaron Rodgers and transition to Jordan Love, the team’s coaching staff is beginning to see what the offense will look like. Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich acknowledges that the offense may look different, not just because of the change in quarterback, but also because of the new pieces added to the team.

The Role of Love as QB1

Although this is Love’s first year as a starter, he has worked as QB1 before during the offseason program when Rodgers skipped it the past two years. This allowed Love to gain experience in the role and allowed the coaches to see how he differs from Rodgers. Love has been an active participant in the offseason program and is set to begin full practices during the organized team activity phase of the program.

The Playbook is on the Table for Love

According to Stenavich, although Love does not have the same playing experience as Rodgers, the playbook is still available to him. Stenavich believes that Love has been attacking the playbook for the past three years and has become more comfortable with it each year, culminating in his readiness to start this year. However, Love may not have the same freedom as Rodgers to adjust plays at the line of scrimmage.

The coaching staff is taking a step-by-step approach to the transition process, starting at Step 1 instead of jumping straight to Step 8 like they would with Rodgers. While it is unclear exactly what the offense will look like under Love, there is an air of excitement and good energy around the locker room as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
