Jose Altuve’s Return to Astros Uncertain

Houston Astros’ star second baseman, Jose Altuve, who fractured his right thumb in the World Baseball Classic, resumed some baseball activities this week. This includes throwing, running, and fielding, but he has not yet been cleared to swing. After his surgery, Astros general manager Dana Brown had said that Altuve would be out at least eight weeks. It has been six weeks so far, and there is still no timetable for Altuve’s return to the team.

Altuve’s Rehabilitation Progress

Altuve is working hard on his rehabilitation, but he is uncertain about when he will be able to return to the team. The eight-time All-Star and the 2017 American League MVP said that the next two weeks of his rehab are crucial. He has never been sidelined for this long before, and he is eager to return to the field and help the Astros win.

Manager Dusty Baker is happy to see Altuve getting some work in this week, but he knows that Altuve has a way to go before he can return to the lineup. Baker wants to temper Altuve’s rehabilitation to avoid rushing him back too soon, as Altuve’s eagerness to play again may cause him to overexert himself.

Mauricio Dubón Fills in For Altuve

In Altuve’s absence, Mauricio Dubón has filled in nicely, entering Wednesday’s game hitting .305 with seven doubles and six RBI. He also had a career-long 20-game hitting streak. Altuve said that he was “awesome” to see Dubón playing so well and is proud of him. Dubón is a team player and is playing amazingly, and Altuve believes that he will have a great season.

In conclusion, although Altuve has resumed some baseball activities, his return to the Astros is uncertain. Altuve is working hard on his rehabilitation, but he has never been sidelined for this long before. Manager Dusty Baker wants to avoid rushing Altuve back too soon, and Mauricio Dubón has been playing well in Altuve’s absence.
