Manchester United Demands Significant Offer for Scott McTominay Amidst Interest from West Ham

Manchester United will only entertain the possibility of allowing Scott McTominay to leave the club this summer if they receive a substantial offer, sources have informed ESPN. West Ham has expressed their interest in signing McTominay, but there exists a disparity in valuation between the two clubs. According to insiders, United is not actively seeking to offload the Scottish midfielder and would only contemplate offers exceeding £40 million ($51.6m).

West Ham’s Pursuit of a Replacement for Declan Rice

West Ham, in their search for a replacement for Declan Rice, who recently joined Arsenal, has turned their attention to Scott McTominay. Additionally, the London club has also displayed interest in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher. While Newcastle has previously shown interest in the midfielder, they have already secured the signing of Sandro Tonali from AC Milan earlier this summer. Although McTominay is considered an important part of Erik ten Hag’s squad, there is an acknowledgement that he may be enticed by the prospect of more regular playing time elsewhere.

Manchester United’s Midfield Pecking Order

Scott McTominay made 39 appearances across all competitions in the previous season. However, he finds himself behind the likes of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, and Mason Mount in the Old Trafford midfield hierarchy. This situation has led to speculation about his future at the club. Manchester United is open to offers for both Fred and Donny van de Beek, and it is plausible that both players may depart. Fred’s absence from the preseason tour of the United States is due to a personal matter, while Van de Beek did not feature in the 2-0 victory over Arsenal in New Jersey, despite being on the bench.

Manchester United’s Potential Departures and Recruitment Targets

Erik ten Hag’s foremost priority before the transfer deadline is to secure the services of a striker. However, sources have revealed to ESPN that if additional funds can be generated through player departures, Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat would be high on the Dutchman’s wishlist. Manchester United has already sanctioned the departure of forward Anthony Elanga to Nottingham Forest for £15 million, and it is expected that Dean Henderson will also leave following the arrival of André Onana from Inter Milan. The future of Harry Maguire remains uncertain after being stripped of the captaincy. Goalkeeper Tom Heaton is set to hold discussions with Ten Hag to determine his future at the club. The 37-year-old is eager to secure regular playing time after featuring only twice for United last season and has attracted interest from Luton Town. Additionally, there have been loan inquiries for forwards Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri.
