NBA Star Stephen Curry Makes Hole-in-One at Celebrity Golf Tournament

NBA superstar Stephen Curry has once again showcased his exceptional skills, this time on the golf course. During the American Century Championship celebrity tournament in Stateline, Nevada, Curry achieved a remarkable hole-in-one on the par-3, 152-yard seventh hole at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. This feat marks only the fifth ace in the tournament’s history and the first on that specific hole.

Curry’s tee shot landed a mere 2 feet from the pin, took a bounce, and disappeared into the hole, leaving the crowd in awe. Overwhelmed with excitement, Curry sprinted down the fairway and leaped in celebration upon reaching the green. He concluded his jubilant display by playfully tapping the flagstick. Reflecting on his achievement, Curry expressed his astonishment, stating, “That was wild. It was good contact, right at the stick, but even if you’re painting the flag and it looks good, you never really expect it to go in. I just saw a bunch of hands go up, and then you just kind of black out.”

Impressive Scoring System Rewards Curry’s Skill

In the American Century Championship, the modified Stableford scoring system is employed. This unique system awards points for various achievements on the golf course. While Curry typically earns three points for his long-range shots on the basketball court, his hole-in-one granted him an impressive eight points for this particular hole. Additionally, the scoring system awards one point for par, three for birdie, and six for eagle. Conversely, two points are deducted for a double bogey or worse.

Heading into the final round on Sunday, Curry leads the event with a total of 50 points. He is closely followed by NHL player Joe Pavelski and former professional tennis player Mardy Fish, who are tied at 47 points. Former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder and actor Jack Wagner, both previous winners of the tournament, are tied at 38 points. The event boasts a star-studded field, including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (the defending champion), and former NBA star and sports commentator Charles Barkley.

Witnesses Marvel at Curry’s Golfing Prowess

Pavelski, who played alongside Curry during the tournament, had the privilege of witnessing the NBA star’s incredible hole-in-one. “You see it land, and it just disappears,” Pavelski recalled. “It was pretty cool. We were trying to get to Steph. He just kind of spins out of it and takes off. He’s got some good speed on him.” Notably, former LPGA Tour great Annika Sorenstam is tied for eighth place with 34 points.

As the tournament progresses, Romo finds himself tied for 12th place with New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, and former MLB player and sports analyst Kevin Millar. Unfortunately, Barkley is currently in 81st place with a score of minus-23 after the second round.

Stephen Curry’s incredible feat on the golf course adds to his already remarkable legacy as an athlete. While he has made a name for himself in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors, Curry’s exceptional skills seem to transcend sports. With the final round of the American Century Championship yet to come, all eyes remain on Curry and his exceptional talents.
