New Orleans Saints Tight End Foster Moreau Expected to Participate in OTAs Following Hodgkin Lymphoma Diagnosis

New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen has expressed confidence in tight end Foster Moreau’s ability to participate in OTAs in two weeks, following a recent diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma. Moreau, who briefly stepped away from football earlier in the spring to undergo treatment, signed with the Saints last week and has been cleared to return to football activities.

Allen commended Moreau’s resilience, noting that despite the potentially life-changing diagnosis, the prognosis for recovery and treatment plan have all been extremely positive. He also expressed that the team will defer to Moreau’s doctors for the final say on his ability to participate.

While Moreau’s return is expected, Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas may take longer to recover from a toe injury that ended his season after three games in 2022. Allen announced in November that Thomas would require surgery for a dislocated second toe and recently shared that the timeline for Thomas’s return to full participation is during training camp.

Despite the setback, Allen expressed optimism that Thomas will return to the team in top form. The team recently traded Adam Trautman to the Denver Broncos during the draft, and communication with Moreau resumed shortly after.

Allen noted that although the team knew Moreau was cleared to participate, they deferred to his doctors and felt confident in his ability to return to football. He also expressed that the team is taking Moreau’s diagnosis seriously and will continue to monitor his progress closely.

In the face of adversity, Moreau’s determination and positive outlook have impressed his coach and teammates, who are eagerly anticipating his return to the field. As the Saints prepare for the upcoming season, the team is hopeful that both Moreau and Thomas will be able to return to full participation and contribute to the team’s success.
