Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of NFL player Patrick Mahomes, was taken into custody on Wednesday and is being charged with aggravated sexual battery. Mahomes, who is 22 years old, was arrested in Johnson County, Kansas, and was held on a $100,000 bond. He is set to appear in court on Friday for his arraignment.
Assault Allegations and Video
According to police in Overland Park, Kansas, Mahomes was arrested after a woman accused him of assaulting her in February. The woman is the owner of Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park, and she also alleged that Mahomes shoved one of the restaurant’s wait staff in a separate incident. Surveillance footage released by TMZ appears to show Mahomes kissing a woman while his hands are around her neck.
Mahomes’ lawyer, Brandon Davies, denied the allegations against his client when they were first made public in March. In a statement given to KCTV5, Davies explained that he had provided law enforcement officials with evidence that would help them evaluate the woman’s claims against Jackson. Davies also argued that the video footage did not provide enough context to properly understand what had happened in the incident.
As of now, it is unclear what the outcome of Jackson Mahomes’ case will be. The charges against him are serious, and if he is found guilty, he could face significant legal consequences. Meanwhile, his brother Patrick continues to play football for the Kansas City Chiefs and is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
