A New Line-Up for the Monza 6 Hours WEC Round

French driver Berthon has recently joined the Glickenhaus team for this month’s Le Mans 24 Hours WEC round. He will be driving the additional Glickenhaus 007 Le Mans Hypercar entered for the French enduro. However, Berthon will be moving over to the team’s solo full-season WEC entry for the Monza 6 Hours on 9 July. This information has been revealed through a revised entry list published on Wednesday. Berthon will be driving alongside Romain Dumas and Olivier Pla in the Monza race, replacing Ryan Briscoe who stepped down for the Spa round earlier this year.

Changes in the Vanwall Racing Entry

The Vanwall Racing entry in Hypercar will feature a new line-up for the upcoming race. Esteban Guerrieri, Tristan Vautier, and Joao Paulo de Oliveira will be driving the Vanwall Racing Hypercar. Joao Paulo de Oliveira has been brought in to replace Tom Dillmann, who decided to leave the team after the Le Mans race. With this addition, the Hypercar entry for the Monza 6 Hours now stands at 13 cars. Another new addition to the race is the Proton Competition Porsche 963 LMDh, which will be driven by Neel Jani, Gianmaria Bruni, and Harry Tincknell. However, the NorthWest AMR Aston Martin will be missing from the entry list, reducing the total number of cars on the grid to 36.

Date Conflict Affects United Autosports LMP2 Drivers

A date conflict between the Monza 6 Hours and the IMSA SportsCar Championship event at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park has resulted in the absence of United Autosports LMP2 drivers Tom Blomqvist and Filipe Albuquerque from the Monza race. The United Autosports team has appointed Giedo van der Garde and Ben Hanley as replacements for Blomqvist and Albuquerque respectively. This is not the first time that these two drivers have stepped in for the British team, as they previously substituted for the same drivers at the Portimao race earlier this season.

Other driver changes include Mathias Beche substituting for Mirko Bortolotti in the #63 Prema ORECA for this race, as Bortolotti will be on duty for the SSR Performance Lamborghini team at the Norisring DTM round. Kei Cozzolino will be racing the Kessel Ferrari 488 GTE Evo backed by his former employer, CarGuy Racing. Cozzolino will be joining Takeshi Kimura and Scott Huffaker as teammates, having previously driven Kessel’s additional Le Mans entry earlier this month. The team is yet to announce the teammates for Matteo Cairoli in the #56 Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR.

The practice for the Monza 6 Hours, which will be the fifth round of the 2023 WEC, is set to begin on Friday, 7 July.
