Kyle Larson to race in 2024 Indy 500 with Arrow McLaren

Kyle Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup champion, has announced that he will race in the 2024 Indy 500 with support from his NASCAR team owner, Rick Hendrick. Larson will join Arrow McLaren’s fourth Chevrolet-powered car and the team’s regular roster of drivers. The Indy 500 has been a dream of Larson’s for some time, and he will also run NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte later that day.

Larson has expressed his excitement about the opportunity to race in the Indy 500, saying that it “probably still won’t seem real until I get behind the wheel of a car.” He is happy to be with a great team and all its resources, and he wants to do a good job and win the race. However, he is keeping his expectations realistic as he knows that these are the best IndyCar drivers in the world, and he has never raced one before.

Larson has not yet had his test programme set, but he wants to get his first IndyCar running before the end of the year. He is aware that the team is busy preparing for this year’s Indy 500 and that they need to get through the next couple of weeks before they can focus on his schedule and plans.

Gordon Overseeing Larson’s Indy Project

Larson attended the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Hendrick Motorsports’ vice-chairman, Jeff Gordon, who will oversee his charge’s Indy project. Gordon is confident that Larson will do well, and he believes that having Tony Kanaan in the fourth Arrow McLaren car this year will be a huge help for what they will have next year.

Gordon said, “Kyle has always made it clear that he wanted to get behind the wheel of an IndyCar to do the Indy 500, and we’re here to learn all we can to plan logistically and for whatever he needs from a competition standpoint.” He believes that the team has a good chance of winning the Indy 500 with the partners they have collaborated with.
