Mike Trout Ties Joe DiMaggio on Home Run List

Mike Trout, one of the greatest baseball players of all time, tied with Joe DiMaggio on the home run list after his two-run shot in the eighth inning of Tuesday night’s 4-0 win over the Boston Red Sox. The home run marked the 361st of Trout’s career, placing him at the 85th spot on the home run list. After teammate Mickey Moniak informed him of the achievement, Trout acknowledged that it was something special to be in the same conversation as the Yankee Clipper.

Trout’s latest home run came after Taylor Ward hit a double in the eighth inning. He then hit an 84 mph changeup from Joely Rodriguez into the third row of the stands in right-center for his 11th home run of the season. This is the third time in the last six games that Trout has hit a home run, but he feels like his timing has been off.

Trout’s Struggles

Despite his impressive home run numbers, Trout has been struggling with his timing this season. His .275 average is tied for his lowest through his 46 games, and his 27.3% strikeout rate is the second-highest in his 13-year career. Trout explained that when he’s not on time, he struggles to recognize pitches and ends up swinging at balls in the dirt. Conversely, when he’s early or on time, he recognizes pitches and puts good swings on balls, leading to good things happening.

AL Home Run Leaders

Trout is currently one of 11 players in the AL tied for sixth with 11 home runs this season. The league lead is held by Texas’ Adolis Garcia and the Yankees’ Aaron Judge, who are tied with 14 home runs each.

Final Thoughts

Mike Trout’s latest home run not only tied him with Joe DiMaggio on the home run list but also showcased his incredible talent. Despite his struggles with timing this season, Trout continues to be one of the best players in the league and a role model for aspiring baseball players. As he continues to climb the home run list, it will be exciting to see what other great achievements he’ll accomplish in his career.
