New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge Progresses After Receiving Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection on Injured Toe

New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge has received another platelet-rich plasma injection on his sprained right toe but is reportedly making progress on the injury that has kept him sidelined for the second time this season. This comes after Judge banged his right toe while making a running catch and crashing into the outfield fence during the eighth inning of New York’s 6-3 win over the Dodgers on June 3. Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone has given updates on Judge’s injury, further detailing the progress that he has made so far.

Updates on Other Injuries

Boone also gave updates on the injuries of other Yankees’ players including outfielder Harrison Bader, left-hander Carlos Rodón, and left-hander Nestor Cortes. Boone stated that Harrison Bader, who is suffering from a strained right hamstring, will make at least two more rehab appearances in the minors before possibly rejoining the team as early as Tuesday. Left-hander Carlos Rodón, who is suffering from a strained left forearm, is slated to begin rehab starts in Double-A Somerset and may need as many as three starts. Meanwhile, left-hander Nestor Cortes may begin playing catch this weekend, with July being the earliest that he could be back.

Possible Return Before the All-Star Break

When asked about Judge’s possible return, Boone didn’t rule out the possibility of Judge returning before the All-Star break, saying that “there’s a shot for that”. He added that he thinks Judge could be back in a week or four but that they have to get to a point where they are starting to move the ball from a physical activity and baseball standpoint. Boone also said that he is optimistic that Judge could begin working on range of motion and doing some work in the pool soon. However, when asked if surgery had been ruled out at this point, Boone said he wasn’t sure, but the hope is that the injection will help him avoid those discussions.

Boone is basing his assessment that Judge is feeling better on what he’s saying and how he’s observed him moving when he’s seen him in the clubhouse. He hopes that the latest PRP injection will help speed up the healing process and that Judge can begin to move in the right direction in the next couple of days.

Aaron Judge’s injury has kept him out of the game for the second time this season, but he is making progress on his injury. While there is no definite timeline for his return, Boone is optimistic that he could return before the All-Star break. The team is also keeping an eye on other injured players and will continue to give updates as they become available.
