Leigh Wood to Fight for WBA Featherweight Title After Opponent Fails to Make Weight

Mauricio Lara lost his World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight belt after failing to make weight before his fight with Leigh Wood at Manchester’s AO Arena. The WBA announced that Leigh Wood would be able to opt for the title instead. While this development takes some of the air out of the highly anticipated rematch, Wood remains determined to go for broke and win back the title.

Wood told the media that he is prepared to do what it takes to win the title back and look good doing it. He acknowledges that it won’t be an easy fight, but he’s ready for anything that Lara brings to the ring. The first time the two boxers faced off, Wood looked impressive until Lara landed a stellar left hook. But Wood is confident that with the knowledge he has now of Lara’s style, he can come out on top this time.

Wood knows that he can’t afford to lose this fight. Losing could mean the end of the road for him and a long road back to the top. He’s done everything he can to prepare for this fight and is confident that he knows what it takes to win. The rematch is happening less than three months after the first fight, which is an unusual turnaround, but Wood believes it benefits him. He was straight back in training after winning the World Title and is prepared to do what it takes to win the belt back.

As things stand, Leigh Wood is now just a few hours away from regaining the WBA featherweight title. All he has to do is beat Lara first. That, however, will not be an easy task.
